Baby Toney

Well, if you're not interested in graphic content, maybe skip to the end.

On Wednesday, I woke up with my underwear soaked in blood. Naturally, we were concerned. I actually had my babysitting baby already at my door step, so I kind of had to work. Anyway, I called Jared and he rushed home. He helped me with the sitter kid and I was able to rest. During this time, we both had no idea what to do. I don't have an OB yet so I couldn't call him, I have no insurance, and I didn't want to wait in an ER if I didn't need to. Well, we got council from the dula I'm planning to hire, and went to a women's hospital with an emergency triage. We saw the doctor and she told us she was concerned about a few things: one, placenta previa which is a condition where the placenta has attached low in the uterus. It usually corrects it's self but needs to be monitored. Second, miscarriage or my body attempting to miscarry. Third, a compromised cervix which would mean sewing my cervix closed and bed rest until delivery. Third was blood clots. And fourth was nothing. Just a freak passing of blood. Most situations were tolerable with the right interventions.

The first procedure they did was an initial ultra sound. Was the baby still there? And WHEW! The baby was! She couldn't get a good read of the placenta so she ordered an inter-vaginal read as well. She checked my cervix for bleeding and compromise and her initial check came bac negative.

I was taken to ultra sound and we sighed a huge sigh of relief when we saw the baby move and that the heartbeat was strong (160bpm)! My placenta was attached and in a high position. And as far as the tech could tell, my cervix was tight.

Then, we waited. And waited. And waited! We waited three hours for the radiology department to read the scans. Then, we had news. I have a blood clot between my placenta and uterus. Sub chorionic hematoma. A few things to consider with the blood clot. One, I have an increased risk of premature birth or miscairrage. Two, it could get bigger. It could get smaller. It could stay the same. It could disappear. If it get's smaller or stays the same, we monitor. If it get's bigger I'll probably go on be rest. And I'll have a c section early. Three, it goes away and all is well.

We went home slightly relieved, and slightly worried. The biggest relief was seeing our baby. The baby has a heart beat. The baby is healthy. I just have to keep myself that way. I had a blessing and Jared was so sweet.. He's been nothing but hopeful and kind.

I'm just being patient for May.

Allergy testing

Evie had allergy testing a few weeks ago. Poor girl was a TROUPER! She was none too happy with the "pinch lady" who did her scratch test. She wouldn't look at me for a long time :( turns out she's allergic to mold and mildew. No food restrictions which is awesome! She's our string brave girl.

Masking Tape

So, we had a melt down about not having the perfect track the other day! Well, when you don't have the perfect track, make one! It kept these kids occupied for close to two hours. Lot' of fun to watch and play with them!

If you didn't hear.....

We're expecting a baby in May!

Mothers Day

These were my sweet flowers Evie picked for me Mothers Day morning. I was in bed and she dropped them on my pillow. She bodly said, "HAPPY MOTHERS DAY! Now. You pick your favorite and I keep the rest." I love being her mom.

My Mini Me

She's been my shadow lately. I love it. I'm painfully aware of how few moments I have with her. She's my baby girl forever.

Swimming

Spring break was last week and we did a ton of fun. One thing we enjoyed doing was going to the pool at UT. We had fun.

Joel enjoyed the hot tub the most.

We thought Joel could touch. We tried. He failed to trust us ever  again.

He finally got brave to swim around.

Evie, on the other hand, is a fish like her daddy!

No floaters on a kick board! She even fell in a few times and popped back up happy!

She probably swam three entire laps of this pool! Insane!

And she wouldn't leave her daddy's side.

Soccer

Joel started soccer three weeks ago. He's had two practices, and today was his first game!

Team Roal Blue! Warm ups! Joel spent oat f the time hopping on one foot with a little girl.

They pray as a group before each game.

Joel was pumped to be put in!

The next three are continuous shots of him swinging his arms? He kept doing it during plays.

Joel's first throw in!

Other way son...

There you go, bud.

Beside Joel getting a little handsy, and a mom scream at him, it was a god day!

Breakfast

When you gotta go, you gotta go!

There is nothing like eating your breakfast, poured into an upside down foot stool, while going to the bathroom, naked.

FaceTime

One of my kids favorite things to do is to FaceTime their grand parents. It's so awesome to see them interact even if they live so far away. This night, grandpa Toney was reading The Red Ripe Strawberry. We love technology. :)

TKD

Joel has been taking a taekwando class. We had a group on for it, and I'm so greaful to Mr. Wright's generosity to my family. This has not been "fun" for Joel . He's not in charge, or in control. That's hard for him. This experience will be so good for him!

Sidewalk Chalk Day

The Brooks Museum held a celebration on their front steps a few days ago, celebrating sidewalk chalk! They invited the community to come and draw and play together. There were tons of families but there were also professionals drawing as well. It was fascinating to see these people work!

My kids drew for about five minutes, then they were done!

They other cool part was they ha the muse open for free! We mainly stayed in the Dahli exhibit they had. It was so cool to see his work up close.
"We're best friends, mom!"
